Purpose of the guideline: Acute exacerbation is the key to accelerate the progression of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and leads to early death. However, clinicians do not pay enough attention to the risk of acute exacerbation, neglect to assess the risk of it, and there are many irregularities in prevention and management. In order to improve the recognition and assessment of acute exacerbation, experts in this field has compiled this consensus. And according to the lasted research evidence, six recommendations about the clinical significance of assessing the risk of acute exacerbation, identification and dynamic monitoring of acute exacerbation events, definition the high risk of acute exacerbation and the core prevention and management strategy has been put forward, hoping to optimize clinical practice for patients at high risk of acute exacerbation.
